Investing in transport
Bus users in the Stratford area can now enjoy improvements to their service thanks to the launch of a Quality Bus Initiative in the town.
The number 19 service in Stratford has become the latest Quality Bus Initiative scheme in the county.
The scheme is proving a huge hit elsewhere in the county where the move to making bus transport more comfortable and pleasurable is seeing passenger numbers go up and up.
For example the numbers of people using another new QBI route, the X20 in Stratford, has gone up by almost 200 per cent since the new buses were provided (see below for the full table on the increase in bus use); similarly in service 63/64 QBI route between Rugby-Southam-Leamington has witnessed a passenger increase of 145 per cent.
The QBI is where Warwickshire County Council works with the bus operators to enhance the image of bus travel, and as part of the latest scheme three new low floor easy access Optare Solo vehicles have been provided by the county.
Buses have gone into service from today and will be operated by Stagecoach.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “There is no doubting the success of these schemes in getting people using buses in the county. Hopefully this latest scheme will repeat the success story.”
