Work starts on new speed limits for Stratford

Work is underway on changing 38 speed limits on A and B roads in the Stratford-upon-Avon area.

The changes follow guidance set by the Department for Transport and an extensive consultation process resulting in more than 1,000 comments to Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Engineering Team.

Work started on the installation of new speed limits last week, following on from a technical review, an extensive consultation process earlier this year and subsequent approval by the Stratford Area Committee.

It is anticipated that all the work will be completed in March. The Warwick District Area speed limit changes should also be implemented in March as well.

Speed limit changes have been made on sections of the following roads:

A3400, A4189, A422, A423, A425, A435, A44, B4035, B4088, B4089, B4090, B4092, B4100, B4101, B4102, B439, B4451, B4452 & B4632

Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “The county council is one of the leading authorities with regards to the speed limit review and aligning our speed limits with existing traffic speeds and road conditions can only have a positive effect in terms of road safety, the environment and the communities we serve.”
