A breath of fresh air in Warwickshire’s country parks

Country parks are providing the perfect introduction to spring offering a breath of fresh air for Warwickshire’s residents as the weather improves and daffodils bloom.

Warwickshire County Council’s country parks last year welcomed three quarters of a million people through their gates, attracting people with the low cost parking, easy access, regular events and variety of sites.

Sites include:
Kingsbury Water Park, five miles north of Coleshill in North Warwickshire, which is the largest of Warwickshire’s country parks, and home to several watersports clubs, with over 600 acres of parkland.
Pooley Country Park and Heritage Centre, near Polesworth in North Warwickshire.
Hartshill Hayes Country Park, on the outskirts of Nuneaton.
Ryton Pools Country Park, five miles from Warwick and Leamington.
Burton Dassett Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Warwick.
The Stratford Greenway, near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Ufton Fields Nature Reserve, three miles south of Leamington Spa.

Birds of prey at Kingsbury Water Park

Wednesday 11 March
Moonlight walk at Pooley Country Park
Experience a wild wood at night under a full moon and listen for the ghostly hoots of the tawny owl.

Creepy crawly club at Ryton Pools Country Park

Kingsbury young anglers club at Kingsbury Water Park

Early spring watch at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
A two-mile walk to look for the early signs of spring and any lingering winter thrush such as redwing and fieldfare.
Time: 10.00am to 12.00noon. 
Meet: The visitor centre. 
Cost:  adults £1.50, concessions £1.00, family £3.50.

Build a bird box at Kingsbury Water Park
Come along and construct a bird box to take home and put up for the birds in your garden.  an ideal family event. please bring a hammer. 
Time: 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Hills and halls at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park
A five-mile ramble over the Burton Dassett Hills, passing close to Bitham Hall, to the nearby villages of Avon Dassett and Fenny Compton.

Sunday 22 March
Water, water everywhere at Kingsbury Water Park
It’s world water day so come along and learn all about the water cycle, make your own rain gauge and weather map. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult (no younger siblings can attend).
Time: 10.30am to 12.00 noon.
Meet: the education centre.
Cost: £2.50 per child.

Sunday 29 March
Kite Making at Kingsbury Water Park
Make your own kite and then fly it – hope for a windy day! An ideal family event.
