Warwickshire libraries – lending a hand

Most of us are watching the pennies a lot more nowadays and, with no end to the recession in sight, it’s worth taking a look at what your local library has to offer.

There are 34 libraries across Warwickshire, plus a fleet of five mobiles, providing a wide range of free and low-cost services to all.

Did you know?
Warwickshire libraries cost each local council tax payer just 6p a day
That’s a fraction of the cost of one national newspaper
There are more than a million books to choose from
You can borrow up to ten at any one time for free
That’s well over £100-worth of books to read without spending a penny

The greener option
Libraries have been recycling since the 1850s. If the three Rs are important to you then using your local library service makes a lot of sense. Libraries:

REDUCE unnecessary use of natural resources and help people save money - why buy books you might only read once when you can borrow them?
REUSE books, CDs and DVDs by lending them out over and over again.
RECYCLE by loaning their stock out repeatedly throughout the community - and books are sold off or literally recycled at the end of their library life.

Free services
Free membership - join in person or online
Free book loans - up to 10 at any one time
Free book orders from the library network

Free time on internet-linked computers

Feature films DVD rental £2.75 a week

So libraries are cost-effective, green and great recession-beaters. You probably can’t wait to get your own card, or sign up your youngsters for children’s membership.
