Pupils enjoy a breath of fresh air
Children and staff from Michael Drayton School in Hartshill are travelling to Hartshill Hayes Country Park next week to enjoy a tree planting session.
On Thursday, March 19, the schools pupils and staff will plant 20 native broadleaved trees to help sustain the woodland and provide further learning opportunities.
Ken Simons, Warwickshire County Council’s County Forestry Officer, said: “This is the beginning of a further phase in the management of the park and its ongoing involvement with the local community.
“Over the next few years management will take place in the Hayes to restructure the woodland and regenerate the native trees that were growing on the site prior to planting of conifers and exotic trees some 50 years ago.
“It is also planned to create a memorial arboretum at the top of the meadow were it is hoped people will sponsor the planting of a number of decorative specimen trees."
