Working Together for Lillington

Lillington Library is throwing its doors open to local people following its recent transformation into the latest Warwickshire Direct ‘one stop shop’.

To mark the completion of works, locals are invited to join staff at the special launch event on Thursday 26th March.

‘Warwickshire Direct – Lillington’ is an exciting joint venture between Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council designed to make council services more accessible to local people. It follows the success of other ‘Warwickshire Direct’ one stop shops around the district in Kenilworth, Whitnash and Warwick.

Residents are now not only able to borrow books and DVDs from the Valley Road centre, but also apply for bus passes and disabled parking badges, report problems on the highways, apply for housing and Council Tax benefits, and much more.

To celebrate the launch, local residents are invited to ‘Warwickshire Direct – Lillington’ between 11am and 1pm on Thursday 26th March to meet the team of friendly customer service advisors and find out more about the services available; including recycling, benefits advice and PHILLIS - a service which offers information on support services available for older people. Plus visitors can enjoy refreshments and pick up a free goody bag at the same time!

Councillor Heather Timms, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Services at Warwickshire County Council said: “Our partnership working with other district and borough councils to provide ‘Warwickshire Direct’ one stop shops in towns around the county has been a huge success. I am delighted that residents in Lillington will now also reap the benefits of having a single point of contact for local services on their doorstep.

“The aim is to bring a range of services, including county council services, closer to people in Lillington and I am sure that the new ‘Warwickshire Direct’ one stop shop will achieve that. It will be a fantastic facility for local residents.”

Councillor Les Caborn, Portfolio Holder for Customer & Business at Warwick District Council said: “Our aim is to bring a range of services, including county and district council services, closer to people in Lillington and I am sure that the ‘Warwickshire Direct-Lillington’ will achieve that. This will be a fantastic facility for local residents who will no longer have to worry about which council delivers which service.”
