Exhibition for Alcester’s budding artists

Alcester Grammar School pupils will get the chance to see their work displayed at a special exhibition in Warwick on Tuesday.

Warwickshire County Council’s ICT Development Service is hosting the artistic showcase at its Wedgnock House offices in Warwick and guests including school staff, governors and parents are in for a treat.

A corridor of art has been created to stylishly present 25 works of art from GCSE and A-level students at the Alcester Grammar School.  The photographs and paintings have been copied and enlarged for more impact in the display and to give a real gallery feel to the art space.

In addition to the exhibition, a short film called Box Boy, based around the idea of acceptance in society will be shown.  The video was created and produced by Sammy Owen, an Applied Art A-level student at the school.

The event was organised by David Smith, Head of Art at Alcester Grammar School and Service Development Officer Adele Clarkson from the county council.  Mr Smith said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase some of the talent at Alcester Grammar School. Over the last few years our fine art students have been using photography and film as well as traditional drawing and painting media in their work and the show reflects this diversity of approach.

“The students all worked really hard on the GCSE and A-level projects displayed and the quality is outstanding. I’m really pleased that the county council have made it possible to honour their achievements with this exhibition.”
