First aid for the over fifties
People over 50 from the Wellesbourne area are being invited to a free session in basic first aid to try their hand at putting on bandages and to learn what to do in an emergency.
The basic first aid session is taking place on Wednesday 15 April from 10am-12pm at Lawrence Mackie House in Wellesbourne.
Organised by Warwickshire County Council’s PHILLIS Service, the aim of the free session is to encourage people in their 50s to think about their future health and learn more about what they can do to reduce the chances of losing their independence later in life.
Other activities which are being run by PHILLIS across South Warwickshire include Nintendo Wii Games and Arthritis Awareness sessions.
Sian Sansum, from Warwickshire County Council’s PHILLIS Service in South Warwickshire, said: ““The first aid sessions have proved really popular with residents across Warwickshire, which is why we are running this session in Wellesbourne.
"The class will not only give residents 50+ the opportunity to try their hand at learning something new, but it will also provide them with the skills to deal with minor emergencies such as a burn from cooking or a cut from a fall.”
