A classroom project becomes reality
Pupils from Rugby High are to see their classroom efforts become a business reality thanks to a local company.
The students who were the winning team of the Engineering Design Challenge run by Precision Laser Processing and Warwickshire Education Business Partnership at the school in January, will be visiting the Precision Laser Processing site on Tuesday to see a prototype of their design manufactured.
As part of their prize the students will see how their ideas, plans and drawings for a ‘privacy capsule’ or ‘pod’ for use in the waiting areas at busy airports will be created. The students will also tour the factory.
Bob Ghavami, Managing Director of Precision Laser Processing, who set the challenge, said: “The challenge itself was a really successful day with many excellent designs and ideas to choose from. This one was the winner because of its simplicity and the way it met the very strict criteria we set.”
Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, works with many local schools to try and ensure pupils are better prepared for the world of work.
