Alderman Smith pupils’ enterprising day

Alderman Smith pupils in Nuneaton will be hoping for ‘happy days’ when they take on the challenge of running an American diner.

Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, will be helping teams of Year 9 students at Alderman Smith School and Sports College as they discover the trials and joys of running the diner at an Enterprise Experience on Thursday.

The students will be finding out about the skills and qualities needed in the world of work as they undertake activities aimed at developing their enterprise capability, financial capability and business and economic understanding.

Business representatives from local companies will be on hand to guide students as they market their diner, compose their menus, advertise their opening night and work out the costs involved.

The students will then take part in a ‘Trading Game’ where they have to buy resources, manufacture chip cones for their diner and sell their completed products to try and make a profit.

Warwickshire Education Business Partnership works with many local schools to try and ensure pupils are better prepared for the world of work.
