When the letter you send is X - County Council explains postal voting
Warwickshire County Council is urging people who will not be able to go to the polls on County Council election day not to miss out on the chance to vote.
People can apply to vote by post at any election. The postal vote can be for a particular election, for a set period or permanently and can be sent to any address residents choose to receive it at.
Anyone choosing to vote by post, will have a ballot paper sent one week prior to the election day. Ballot papers are crossed in the normal way and then returned in the pre-paid envelope along with the other documentation before the close of poll.
Anyone going away during the week prior to election day, for whom it might not be convenient to receive a postal ballot paper at the holiday address, can arrange to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf.
Completed applications for Postal and Proxy Votes must be received by the electoral services team in your area (North Warwickshire Borough Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Rugby Borough Council, Warwick District Council, or Stratford District Council) no later than 5pm on 19th May 2009.
David Carter, deputy returning officer for Warwickshire County Council said: “We are determined that as many residents as possible have a say in this election. If people have any difficulties in reaching the polls on June 4th, we hope that they take advantage of postal voting so they do not lose their opportunity to vote.”
