Lollipops gather for annual get-together
School Crossing Patrols from all over Warwickshire will be gathering in Kenilworth this week as part of Warwickshire County Council’s annual get-together for the unsung heroes of the road.
The event gives the patrols the opportunity to discuss issues with each other and hear about the latest road safety initiatives.
Stan Milewski, the county council’s Principal Road Safety Officer, said: “We have around 100 patrols in total spread across Warwickshire, who all do a marvellous job, in all weathers, and in some very dangerous locations.
“Working on their own, the get-togethers give patrols the opportunity to see each other once a year to discuss any problems they may have and meet up with old friends.”
At this year’s get-together, three patrols in particular will receive special long service awards:
40 years – Mrs Sheila Lomas from Lillington
40 years – Mrs Ann Perry from Kingsbury
35 years – Mrs Dawn Shakespeare MBE from Polesworth
