Extended Services is a real vision for the future!
A national toolkit aimed at School Governors is showing just how a 21st century school should look with the support of extended services.
The toolkit has been developed by the Training and Development Agency (TDA) in conjunction with the national governor organisations. It is aimed at governing bodies to help deepen their understanding and skills around extended services to better equip them to support schools.
By 2010, all schools will be expected to provide access to a range of extended services aimed at removing the barriers that prevent children and young people from realising their potential.
Warwickshire County Council’s, Extended Services Strategy Officer, Carol Bunyard said: “School governors have a significant role to play in developing extended services. In Warwickshire 99% of schools are now offering access to extended services. This includes providing anything from before and after school clubs to study support, parenting and family support to holiday clubs and children’s universities.
“I am pleased to say that Warwickshire is exceeding government targets, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our extended services cluster co-ordinators, schools, school governors and parents who have been working in partnership to ensure that schools in Warwickshire offer a service that goes beyond classroom learning.”
