Investing in quality transport
Bus users in the north and south of the county are reaping the benefits of a new deal to provide better quality transport.
Warwickshire County Council, working in partnership with Johnsons Coaches, has set out to improve the bus travel experience in both Stratford, and in Coleshill.
This has been possible by the introduction of four new double-decker buses on the X20 route in Stratford, allowing the Quality Bus Initiative buses that had been operating on the X20 route to be used in Coleshill on the 757 service.
The X20 route operates between Stratford-upon-Avon, Henley-in-Arden and Birmingham, while the northern 757 service operates between Birmingham International Airport, Coleshill, Coleshill Parkway, Water Orton, Curdworth and Sutton Coldfield.
Graeme Fitton, Warwickshire County Council’s Head of Transport and Highways, said: “The Quality Bus Initiative is a form of partnership between the county council and bus operators intended to upgrade the quality and image of bus travel.
“This vehicle reallocation in the county is a great example of what can be achieved through the scheme with people in the north and south of the county reaping the rewards of an improved service.
“There is no doubting the success of the Quality Bus Initiative in Warwickshire, with the X20 route seeing dramatic increases in patronage, as has Service 63/64 which operates between Leamington and Rugby.”
Peter Johnson, Director – Johnsons Coaches, added: “We are delighted to be working with Warwickshire County Council to improve the bus travelling experience and allow more and more people to discover the benefits of travelling by bus.”
