Have your say at the South Leamington Community Forum

The third of the regular Community Forums will be held for the South Leamington area on Monday 15th June 2009 at the Charles Gardner Centre, Charles Gardner Road, Brunswick.

Starting at 6pm with a traditional cream tea, the meeting will offer a chance to chat to your local Town, District and County Councillors, and the Leamington South Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Everyone from the South Leamington area (Sydenham, Old Town, Brunswick) is welcome to the Forums. The main theme of this particular event will be what the District, County and Town Councils, the police and health services can do to improve life for older people living in the area.

Other themes planned for later in the year include what we can do to meet the needs of families and young people.

The Community Forums are your chance to have your say about what makes you mad, sad and glad about living in South Leamington, whether it be about how safe you feel, the environment you live in, your housing or whatever you want to tell us.

The point of the Forum is for us to listen to what you have to say, and for us to do what we can to improve your quality of life through police and council services. Members of the public can help to identify priorities for the area, and the local agencies will try to address them.

This isn’t a formal Council meeting though. It is an informal occasion, when from 6pm you can drop in for a cup of tea. The Forum will start at 6.30pm and aims to be finished by 8.30pm.

Cllr Alan Wilkinson, Chair of the South Leamington Community Forum, said: "I am really excited by the opportunity the Forum gives for making things happen – and for bringing about change.

“Already the Forum has tackled head-on issues such as speeding, graffiti, and alcohol and drug abuse - issues that affect the day-to-day lives of everyone in this area.

“This meeting will be paying extra attention to the specific needs of older people. I do hope they come along in numbers and give voice to their concerns. South Leamington is a great place to live - let’s make it even better."
