Working together to tackle drugs
A series of roadshows in Rugby are taking place this week to inform people about the dangers of drug abuse and to help people get support.
As part of the government’s national Tackling Drugs Week campaign, Warwickshire’s Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) have co-ordinated a weeks worth of activities across the borough.
The roadshow is visiting local schools, colleges and community centres throughout the week but will also be in the town centre on Saturday 13 June from 11am to 2pm.
The county’s authorities, the Police, health and other agencies are all involved and will be on hand at this event at Rugby market to offer information and support to visitors.
Paul Collett, Community Safety Project Officer, said: “This is a topic that is often misunderstood so we are using the roadshows to talk informally to people to dispel the myths and arm them with the information they need.
“We hope lots of people will visit us at our stand in the town centre on Saturday either for themselves or someone they know who could benefit from it.”
The roadshow also stops off at the Brownsover, Benn and Newbold Locality Forum at 6.30pm on Monday 15 June at St Andrew’s Benn CofE Primary School on Chester Street. Local residents attending the forum will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk about what they want from these services.
Warwickshire DAAT wants to find out more about people’s views on drug use and support in the county.
