Pandemonium at the Peace Festival
Warwick Music Centre’s steel pan orchestra took to the stage at Leamington Spa’s annual Peace Festival over the weekend.
Pandemonium’s performance on Sunday 14 June was well received by festival goers who gathered around the performance tent to enjoy the 30 minute set which featured a variety of music styles including jazz, calypso, reggae and slow ballads.
Pandemonium’s current members started performing together in September 2008. Its members, aged 11-14, come from five schools in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth and get together for practice at the centre’s Coten End base each Thursday.
The group is becoming accustomed to live performance with a number of events under their belt this year. They have a busy summer ahead of them with forthcoming performances lined up at Warwick Carnival on 27 June, the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington Spa on 4 July, and White Hart Inn in Ufton on 14 July.
Keen fundraisers, the band’s shows have raised money for NSPCC, Comic Relief and the Alzheimer’s Society this year alone and the event in July will be in support of The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Pandemonium Director Fareed Siddiqui said: “I’m extremely proud of Pandemonium who delivered a polished performance at the Peace Festival on Sunday. The group of youngsters have gone from strength to strength in recent months and they have really grown together as a strong band.”
