A wave of fun to sweep Warwickshire and beyond!
Children from across Warwickshire and the Midlands will join together on Wednesday 5 August in a wave of activity to mark National Play day and highlight the importance of play.
The fun event aims to unite communities when children in Warwickshire will wave to children in Staffordshire, who in turn will SHOUT to children in Stoke-on-Trent, who will then STAMP to children in Coventry, who in turn will CHANT to children in Solihull and so on.
The idea was started by Michael Maguire, Head of Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme, who said: “We are asking children and adults alike across the Midlands to give their support and share the fun of National Play day - and the Warwickshire Wave initiative on 5 August - with a cheery wave back to the children.
“It is important to remember that children need to be having fun, playing and enjoying life especially in the face of difficulties faced across the world at the moment, enabling children to express their enthusiasm through positive activities, and to be heard.”
Positive about Young People is a partnership between Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Police. The aim is to prevent disaffection amongst young people and remedy it through a community-based, multi-agency approach, by working with children and young people to provide services that they want, need and enjoy. PaYP is working to improve the lives of children and young people through play, support services and outreach help.
Events will be happening in prominent play locations across Warwickshire to get children and parents/carers involved.
