Happy Birthday St John’s
A Children’s Centre in Kenilworth will be celebrating its first birthday next week with a jam packed programme of special activities for local families.
St John’s Children’s Centre on Mortimer Road, Kenilworth begins the week of celebrations on Monday 29 June with a cradle club party, but other birthday treats for the under fives and their families continue until Saturday 4 July.
Other events include parties tailored to meet the needs of the centre’s many little visitors, such as; mini movers, twins and siblings, and dads and tots. Special guests supporting some of the events are Kevin the Clown who will host an afternoon of fun and games on Tuesday 30 June, and a local pet shop who will give a furry, slimy and crawly demonstration on Wednesday 1 July.
Support services will continue to be on offer at the centre throughout the week for those families dropping in for information on all sorts of issues such as health matters, financial support, access to education, and parenting advice.
Children’s Centre Manager, Julie Curtis said: “We really wanted a party that all parents and carers with children under 5 could come to and therefore ended up with a week of events to accommodate everyone. We are really excited about the Dads and tots group on the Saturday as this will give mum’s a well deserved break.”
St John’s Sure Start Children’s Centre is one of eight up and running in Warwick District which is supported by Warwickshire County Council. The centre helps families by offering integrated care and education for pre-school children, health services, and family support. It is also a good place to go for advice about benefits, tax credits and links to employment opportunities with Jobcentre Plus as well as support for childcare providers.
The centre supports families living in and around Kenilworth, Leek Wooton and Lapworth who are all invited to join in the fun. For more information call the centre on 01926 856397.
