Once in a Blue Moon” Art Competition - Winners announced!!
Warwickshire County Museum Service is helping people celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the first man on the moon, and will be organising events throughout the summer looking at all things lunar, including a summer exhibition “Once in a Blue Moon” opening on Saturday 11th July and an Open Day celebrating the lunar landing to be held on Sunday 19th July.
As part of the celebrations the museum invited people to enter a Moon Art Competition to find out what the moon means to people in Warwickshire – in pictures!!
Almost 200 entries were received across four age groups with an overall winner of each group being chosen.
Winners are:
0 – 7 yrs Elliot Caldwell-Barker, Bedworth.
8 – 11 yrs Rebecca Winch, Nuneaton.
12 – 17 yrs Rebecca Garner, Rugby.
18+ yrs Denise Hagon, Stratford-upon-Avon.
There are also 9 Highly Commended Certificates across the 4 groups.
Prizes including a theatre voucher, book tokens and luminous stars, will be awarded on Saturday 11th July at 11am at Warwickshire Museum, Market Square, Warwick.
Nicola Sherhod, Assistant Keeper of Human History said “We are thrilled with the response received! The standard of entries has been very high and it was very difficult to choose between them all. It is an exciting time for the museum at the moment and we are looking forward to reopening Market Hall with a new exhibition for the summer ahead”.
