Who do you think you are?
Warwickshire County Council’s Extended Services have been helping parents and children play detective as they research their family history.
The ‘Who do you think you are?’ family history course has been running at Aylesford School, Warwick as part of an extended services programme. Throughout the six-week course, parents, children and family members have been developing their detecting skills and research techniques by looking for clues on the internet. They have also been creating a family tree memory box or book, which can be looked through by generations to come.
Extended Services Co-ordinator, Sharon Hall said:
“The course has been a real success at bringing generations of families together. Those taking part have really enjoyed finding their family crest and searching for ancestors as far back as 16th century. As well as finding out about their families the course is also helping adults and children to develop their IT skills by searching for information on the Internet.”
As part of the course, parents, children and family members will also visit Warwickshire County Council’s county records office to find out how records are kept and how you can research them.
Other courses are available through extended services at Aylesford School including Internet safety, supporting teenagers and drugs awareness.
