Live well, age well
If you look after your body now then your body will look after you in later life - that's the message from Warwickshire County Council's PHILLIS team during Health Information Week from 6-11 July.
Over 50s from across the county are invited to come along to the PHILLIS sugeries during the week to get information on any matters regarding health and lifestyle - including social activities, assistance with household tasks and safety in the home.
Warwickshire County Council’s PHILLIS team will be available at surgeries throughout Health Information Week:
- Mon 6th July - Kenilworth Surgery, Warwickshire Direct and Library, Smalley Place, Kenilworth. CV8 1QG 2pm-3pm
- Mon 6th July - One Stop Shop, Town Hall, Nuneaton 9am-12pm
- Tues 7th July - Shire Hall, Warwick, 10am-11am
- Wed 8th July - Newtown Centre, Newtown Road, Nuneaton 9am-12pm
- Fri 10th July - Whitnash Surgery, Warwickshire Direct and Library, Franklin Road, Whitnash, Leamington Spa. CV31 2JH 10am-11am
Health Information Week is a regional campaign to raise awareness about health information available to everyone in the West Midlands. NHS staff, voluntary staff and local authorities are a few of the groups who are working together to improve access to quality local information and promote healthier communities.
Now in its second year PHILLIS, which stands for Promoting Health and Independence through Low Level Integrated Support, helps people aged over 50 to find out more about the services that help them live on their own in their own homes.
Trained staff can advise customers on many aspects of living, enabling older people to independently get jobs done around the house, to get shopping in, socialise and join leisure groups and a host of other activities.
Amy Bastow of Warwickshire County Council’s PHILLIS service said: "Research shows that older people can help reduce health risks in later life through lifestyle changes and regular physical activity. We hope that Health Awareness Week will help inform even more people than before about the range of services available to live healthier and fuller lives."
