Young people on to a ‘summer winner’
Young people who are looking to boost their employment prospects during the recession are invited to an event organised by Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire.
“Summer winner” offers individuals the chance to meet providers of college education, apprenticeships and other training, and to find out more about the opportunities available.
The free event will take place on Wednesday 15 July at the United Reformed Church on Warwick Row, Coventry, between 1pm and 3.30pm. Invitations to young people have been sent out but anyone can drop in anytime.
Chris Steventon, a Connexions Personal Advisor, set up the event, and said: “Young people, like many others, are finding it incredibly difficult to find employment at the moment, so the aim of this event is to point them in the right direction and help them understand what is on offer for them.”
Graham Hollowell, Head of Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire, said: “During these recessionary times, it is even more important for anyone looking for jobs to stand out amongst potential employers – further education and training can help achieve that.
“This is recognised by the government who have guaranteed places in education and training for all 16 and 17-year-olds. Events like ‘Summer winner’ offer information on this entitlement as well as the various other routes available to help get the best start in your career.”
