A cricketer’s lunch for Warwickshire students

Pupils from Warwickshire primary schools will be bowled over with lunch time choices next week as they celebrate The Ashes with some tasty treats.

Warwickshire County Caterers have prepared an extra special menu for the cricket themed lunch, which will be served at schools around the county on Tuesday 14 July.

Children can choose between Sticky Wicket Chicken served with Egg Noodlie Googlie, Spin Bowlers Fish or the vegetarian Fielders Lunch accompanied by Bails and Stumps (chips), bread or Century Salad.

The cricketing theme continues with desserts on offer including Cricketer’s Tea – selection of cakes and muffins and Maiden Over Fruit Salad.  To wash it all down there will be ‘drinks from the pavilion’ including, milkshakes, fruit juice and chilled water.

Lindsay Higgins, Development Manager for Warwickshire County Caterers said: “We have themed this special lunch to tie-in with The Ashes and encourage the children to support this traditional British sport.

“With lots of nutritional options on the menu and the sporting link, we will be promoting the importance of a healthy diet combined with regular exercise in a fun way.”

The County Caterers are the catering arm of Warwickshire County Council, the service aims to provide food that is fun to eat, healthy and varied and provides school meals to nearly every primary and almost half the secondary schools in the county.
