Good Days 2 graduates celebrate their success
A group of students from Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby and Leamington have graduated from a Warwickshire County Council project aimed at improving their life chances.
Good Days 2, devised and run by the county council’s Positive about Young People programme, provides a range of programmes to help meet the education needs of pupils referred by Warwickshire’s Early Intervention Service.
Using alternative education programmes, the team help young people achieve economic well-being through employment, education or training.
A special ceremony was held at the Royal Court Hotel in Keresley on Thursday 9 July to recognise the young people’s achievements over the last year to present them with certificates to show they had taken part.
Katrina Parfrey, Senior Activity Worker with Positive about Young People, said: “Young people attending Good Days 2 have worked incredibly hard and have made great leaps forward in improving their educational prospects and personal skills.
“This then helps to prepare students for the world of work or further education and training, when otherwise they may have diverted away from it.”
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families, said: “Good Days 2 is a great way to engage young people in to learning in a relaxed environment, when otherwise they may have found formalised learning more challenging.
“The students and staff really have worked incredibly hard and I congratulate them on their efforts.”
The celebration came during Shine Week – a national festival encouraging positive perceptions of young people and showcasing hundreds of different talents from street dance to bee keeping, and beyond.
