Staff work together to put people first
More than 200 staff from across the county’s health and care sectors have joined together at the University of Warwick to progress ‘Putting People First’ in Warwickshire.
The Integrated Health and Social Care Conference, organised by Warwickshire County Council, was held to forge even stronger ties between social workers, health care staff, managers and clinicians. The Putting People First initiative aims to give those in need of social care - including older people and those with disabilities - the choice and control to commission their own care and support.
The keynote speakers, including Dame Yve Buckland, Chair of Putting People First Taskforce in Warwickshire; Graeme Betts, Strategic Director for Adult Health and Community Services, Warwickshire County Council; and Paul Maubach, Director of Strategy and Commissioning, NHS Warwickshire, echoed the importance of integrated working on the front line.
Dame Yve described the current economic climate as presenting immense challenges requiring even greater determination to make working in partnership a reality.
Workshops gave staff the opportunity to explore areas of effective joint working and topics ranged from Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Partnership Working to promote effective hospital discharge, the health of looked after children and new pilots in developing integrated delivery of services.
Dr Graeme Betts, Strategic Director of Adult, Health and Community Services for Warwickshire County Council, said: “This event gave staff from across the board the opportunity to share best practice, celebrate the hard work of practitioners and bring to light the ways in which the lives of patients and customers are being improved.”
