New Warwickshire.gov.uk homepage to launch

Warwickshire County Council will be launching its new website homepage on Monday 10th August.

While the finishing touches are being made, we are inviting visitors to the site to have sneak preview and give their reaction.

To see the new homepage and send your comments, please visit http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/newhomepage.

The redesign is a direct result of consultation with Warwickshire residents, and the comments and suggestions have been taken into account when creating it. For example, the new homepage allows visitors to access a greater range of services directly, instead of needing to navigate through the site or use the search box.

We are particularly keen to hear which areas of the website you use the most and would therefore like to see appear on the homepage.

The redesign of the homepage is just part of a number of changes to the website over the next few months, aimed at improving the experience for visitors. Improvements to the site search, A-Z, and navigation will all appear throughout the summer and autumn.

Paul Inman, Acting Corporate Webmaster, said:
“The homepage redesign is an important change, but is just the tip of the iceberg. We want to put customers and residents at the heart of the website, and give them much easier access to the Council’s range of services.”

Warwickshire County Council is also investigating a range of other methods for communicating with residents electronically.

· You can access Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council services and information on your TV through Sky, Virgin and some Freeview interactive services – just select the ‘Looking Local’ option available in the interactive menu. Council information can also be accessed via broadband services on the Nintendo Wii.

· The Council are carrying out a pilot project which will offer the public a way of engaging in online ‘Community Forums’ to raise and discuss local issues. You can find out more at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/communityforumsonline

Looking at the longer term, the Council has started exploring how to use online technologies in radically different ways. If you are interested in technology developments, you can find out more by following the ICT Applications Strategy blog - abigbang.wordpress.com
