Top ratings for county’s care homes
Warwickshire County Council’s residential care homes have been awarded top scores, with nine out of ten achieving good or excellent ratings.
Three of the homes have achieved the highest possible grade, ‘excellent’, and all have improved or maintained their high standards. The ratings were recently published by the Care Quality Commission, which is the new health and social care regulator for England.
The results reflect the council’s ‘Improving Lives’ strategy which, over the last 12 months, has made significant progress in improving quality throughout all care services in Warwickshire.
Warwickshire County Council manages ten residential care homes for older people around the county. Three homes achieved ‘excellent’, six ‘good’ and one ‘adequate’.
The latest rating to be announced by the CQC, is for Bracebridge Court in Atherstone, which has leapt from ‘adequate’ in its last inspection to ‘excellent’ in just eighteen months.
The inspections cover all aspects of the running of residential cares homes, from management and staffing to the environment, including health, personal care and social activities. The wellbeing of residents is the central priority and experiences of residents and their families play a vital role in the inspection process.
Dr Graeme Betts, Strategic Director of Adult, Health and Community Services at Warwickshire County Council, said: “These ratings reflect the council’s commitment to providing the best care possible and I should like to pay tribute to all the members of staff who have achieved these impressive results. The reports form a strong foundation for us to build upon our success.”
