Connexions offer GCSE results day help for students
Careers advisors will be on hand at Connexions offices across Coventry and Warwickshire from this week ahead of the release of the GCSE and equivalent vocational results next week.
Thousands of students will find out how they’ve done in the examinations on Thursday 27 August but Connexions staff are offering information and guidance from 20 August in the run up to the big day.
For many, the results will be just what they were hoping for helping them to access employment or the course they were planning to take. For others, results may not be quite as they had expected.
Connexions Personal Advisers will have immediate access to information about every course, covering every subject, anywhere in Coventry and Warwickshire. They are also connected to the National Apprentice Service and a local database of job and training opportunities.
The advisers know about work-based learning and part-time study and will help each young person put together the best plan of action for them.
As well as careers advice, Connexions offers support with application forms, CVs and interviews. They have information on voluntary work with activities that will help young people in their preparation for work and adult life.
There is a Connexions office in every secondary school and Further Education College across the county, and also at Connexions One Stop Shops in town centre offices.
Lynda Pinks from Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire, said: “Getting your results can seem quite daunting but the important thing is not to panic.
“Even if results are not quite as expected, there will be professionals on hand who can talk through various options to help students make informed decisions about their future path – whether that’s employment, training or further education.”
Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire is run by CSWP Ltd, a membership of organisations including Warwickshire County Council, Coventry City Council and the Learning & Skills Council amongst others.
