Children and families spent their staycation at ‘Warwick-on-Sea’ on Friday 21 August.

Despite being in the most landlocked county in the UK, Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage Education Service organised a Victorian seaside at St John’s House Museum, Warwick.

There were Punch and Judy shows, an ice cream stand and a donkey for children to pat. Children and families also discovered where people went on their holidays in the past and made their own souvenirs to take home.

As well as the event in Warwick, ten venues across the county have offered children the chance to learn about holidays in the past as part of the Heritage Education summer programme.
