Free behind the scenes tours at Warwickshire’s heritage hot spots

Members of the public are invited behind the scenes at Warwickshire County Council’s key heritage sites from Saturday 12 to Sunday 13 September as part of the national Heritage Open Days programme.

The weekend will give a rare insight into Warwickshire’s rich heritage, how historic buildings and collections are used, and the people who care for them.

Explore the County Record Office strong rooms and see the illuminated Charter of Thomas Beauchamp Earl of Warwick from 1358 and the popular ‘Known Thieves Album’ which depicts Birmingham’s most notorious villains from the early 1900s.

Discover fascinating specimens and artefacts at the Museum Service’s Geology and Archaeology stores including an elephant skull, semi precious treasures, Roman pottery and extinct Jurassic animals. And unlock the past of one of Warwickshire’s historic landmarks, Chesteron Windmill.
