Small grants opportunity in Warwick District
Warwickshire County Councillors in Warwick District have launched this year’s round of their annual Warwick Area Fund grant scheme.
Cllr Jose Compton, the Chair of Warwick Area Committee, which oversees the fund said: “The Warwick Area Fund is an excellent opportunity for groups who want to run small scale projects, particularly those benefiting disadvantaged groups or those at risk of exclusion from mainstream activities.”
The Fund will pay a maximum of £3000 towards new opportunities, including those that seek to build the skills of local people to help them run their own community projects.
If you are part of a voluntary sector group that works with people in Warwick District and you have an idea for a project that will benefit local people, the grant fund is open for applications until 9th October.
Dozens of local groups have benefited from this grant in previous years, covering needs as broad as safer parking facilities and community mentoring projects.
Last year, Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs ran the ‘Change of Heart’ project, which supported a number of under-25s to build confidence through a range of activities and training sessions, helping them to reconnect with their aspirations for education and work.
Age Concern Warwickshire also ran an information service targeted at reaching Asian Elders to ensure they could use local services, and that the services suited their needs.
The St Mary’s Healthy Eating Project were awarded a grant to support them in extending their educational programme. They were able to buy new kitchen equipment and teach more people about the benefits of a healthy diet.
