A guilt-free holiday
Holidaymakers are being offered the chance to ‘offset’ the carbon dioxide they have created by jetting off on holiday by supporting a local charity.
Rugby-based Practical Action, a climate change partner of Warwickshire County Council, is offering a carbon offset scheme, where people can donate a small sum of money, which then goes to help communities hit by climate change in Bangladesh and Nepal.
The charity joined Warwickshire County Council three years ago in committing to the Warwickshire Climate Change Partnership.
Cllr Alan Farnell, Leader of Warwickshire County Council, said: “Climate change is having a profound effect on millions of people around the world, and the charity with its head office in Rugby is doing great things to support people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
“Warwickshire County Council is committed to reducing our carbon emissions and now the people of Warwickshire have the chance to do their bit and support the charity.”
Practical Action believes that the right idea, no matter how small, can change lives. It creates jobs, improves health and livelihoods and helps people have better lives.
