Working with Warwickshire County Council’s Youth Service and the National Apprenticeship Service, Personal Advisers from Connexions were on hand at the Rope Walk Shopping Centre on Saturday (5 September 2009) to help students - and their parents – find out more about the services and options available once leaving compulsory education.

The team answered dozens of enquiries during the day, from work experience options to the availability of GCSE re-takes and from the cost of courses to work-based learning (apprenticeships), covered by the National Apprenticeship Service.

Lola Smith, Office Manager (Nuneaton) at Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire, said: “The aim of this event was to give not only students but their parents/carers a chance to find out what Connexions can do for those aged between 13 and 19.

“Families offer vital support to young people when making a decision about what to do after school – whether that’s further or higher education, training or employment – so we wanted to give them an insight in to the work we do.

“This, together with the support given in schools, will help young people make an informed decision about their future career path that is right for them.”

Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire is run by CSWP Ltd, a membership of organisations including Warwickshire County Council, Coventry City Council and the Learning & Skills Council among others.
