Where do you think you are? Open your door to the past

Have you ever wondered about the history of your house or perhaps the heritage of the buildings in your neighbourhood?

Thanks to Warwickshire County Council, two workshops run by a house historian will give you the key to unlock the past.

The two courses have been organised by Warwickshire County Record Office which collects, preserves and makes available unique historical records.

The first workshop, “House History on the Internet”, is held on Saturday 19 September and looks at how to research the history of your house using the internet, also using it to plan ahead to make the most of your record office visits.

“Finding and Understanding Title Deeds” on Saturday 17 October looks at how to find out about the history of your house and its owners from a bundle of title deeds, which can often seem a daunting sight at first.
Both courses will be led by experienced house historian Christine Hodgetts and take place at the County Record Office Priory Park, off Cape Road, Warwick.

Rowan Fisher, Learning and Outreach Officer for Warwickshire County Council, said: “These workshops aim to provide people with the tools to conduct their own research into the history of their house.  We hope that many more people will become familiar with the resources available at the Record Office as a result of their attendance.”

The workshops run from 9.15am to 12.15pm and cost £12.00 each.  Booking in advance is recommended by calling 01926 738959 (Tuesday to Saturday).
