Cash windfall for schemes to cut waste

Warwickshire County Council has £130,000 up for grabs to fund local schemes to cut the amount of waste produced.

Organisations are being called on to apply now for a share of the £130,000, and to demonstrate how their projects and schemes will reduce waste.

It could be through increasing composting and recycling levels, but organisations must be able to demonstrate how they can take Warwickshire towards its target of recycling and composting 45 per cent of the waste in the county by 2010.

Examples of items purchased as part of previous successful bids include:

Compost bins
Green cones
Community Composting
Collection Vehicles for reuse schemes
Reuse paints schemes

All bids must be submitted by 30 October 2009, and successful bids will be approved by the end of November.
