Whitnash gets its say

Activities for 12 to 18 year olds, speeding, fear of crime and more will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the Whitnash Community Forum, on Wednesday 7 October.

The forum will be held at the Whitnash Community Centre, Acre Close, Whitnash from 7pm.

The theme of the meeting is ‘Whitnash one year on and into the future’, and residents will be invited to celebrate the success stories that have resulted from previous forum meetings as well as identify priorities for the future.

Other items on the agenda at the meeting, which is open to all residents living in Whitnash, include an update on the Community Forum Grant Fund and a review of local play activities.

Community Forums are a great way for people to find out about big issues affecting the area, get answers to questions and influence local decision-making. Anyone with a question about a local issue can go along and put it to local Councillors and officers from a range of organisations.

District and County Councillor Bernard Kirton will chair the meeting and there will be updates from Whitnash Town Council, Warwick District Council, Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Police on a number of issues.

Councillor Kirton says: “The forum is the ideal platform for residents to influence the development of our community. Please join us, listen to the speakers and help us build a stronger, safer community.”

Town Councillor Jim Nutt will be presenting his local plan, while Dave Finnerty and Paul Morley of Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service will be giving a presentation on the Fire Safety Community Group.

There will also be an update from the Whitnash Safer Neighbourhood Team, who will be reinforcing that crime statistics show a downward trend and making the statistics easier to digest for residents.

For residents who can’t make the meeting on 7 October, alternative methods of feeding into the debate are available, and the next meeting is on 11 January 2010, at the same location and time.

There are a number of ways that people can find out about the issues discussed at the Community Forum and what progress is being made.
