Bunty’s 100th birthday celebration hits a high note

A resident at a Warwickshire County Council residential care home has celebrated her 100th birthday on a high note.

Warwickshire County Boys Choir gave a surprise performance at Park View care home in Warwick to mark Bunty’s special day. The impromptu performance was arranged by her youngest son Garry, who is director of the Warwickshire County Council choir.

Bunty Jones has been living at the County Council run Park View Care Home, Warwick for nearly three years.

Bunty was married in 1943 to her husband Charles but he sadly passed away just 10 years later. Bunty, a keen gardener and a former P.E Teacher had two sons, who she brought up on her own.

Garry and older son Glyn said: “The staff at Park View show mum great care and respect. They’re a close family at the home and it has a peaceful garden that she can enjoy.”

Bernie Gilbert – who worked closely with Bunty until she recently retired, said:
“She is a wonderful lady! So gentle and appreciative, and with a great sense of humour.”

Annis Tombs, Manager of Park View for Warwickshire County Council, added:
“Bunty is a lovely lady who has a Kind and caring nature, she is a pleasure to have, and is an integral part of our family. It is a privilege to have her here with us.”

Bunty had a lovely day, and was full of smiles when everyone joined the choir to sing Happy Birthday.

Park View has 28 long stay residents and 7 respite customer rooms. It also provides a day care facility Monday to Friday for 12 people. It is part of Warwickshire County Council’s Adult Health and Community Services.
