Autumn and winter fun at country parks
The onset of autumn and winter doesn’t slow things down at Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks who are continuing to offer a packed schedule of events.
Events and activities include:
SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER
Kingsbury Young Anglers Club at Kingsbury Water Park
The first of three angling tuition sessions to be held monthly on Saturday afternoons for children aged 8 to 14 years – come along as many times as you wish and learn the essentials of good angling. Suitable for beginners or those with some experience; no equipment required.
Time: 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. Meet: The Information Centre.
Cost: £4.00 per child, per session.

SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER
Fungi Walk at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
Join a Ranger on this short walk looking for fungi and learn the basics of fungi identification.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Meet: The Visitor Centre.
Cost: Adults £2.00, Concessions £1.00, Family £4.00.
SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER

Join a Ranger on this short walk looking for fungi, and learn the basics of fungi identification.

WEDNESDAY 28 OCTOBER
Stargazing at Kingsbury Water Park
An evening talk followed by the opportunity to view the night-time sky (weather permitting) with local experts. In conjunction with the Heart of England Astronomical Society.

Echills Wood Railway at Kingsbury Water Park – Halloween Train Rides
Dress up and make yourself look really scary for a spooky train ride in the park. A prize for the best costume – judging at The Harvester Station at 4.30 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Meet: The Harvester Station.
Cost: £1.00 per person per train ride.
Halloween Fright Night at Kingsbury Water Park
Call for further information. The Old Barn Coffee Shop will be open for refreshments (extra). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

‘Moth Trunking’ at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
The Winter Moth is best observed by ‘trunking’ – searching tree trunks with spotlights for the flightless females that attract visiting males. We will also set up a light trap to catch November Moths and December Moths, also active at this time of year. Please bring a torch.

Make A Bird Feeder at Kingsbury Water Park
Construct a bird feeder to take home and put up in your garden. Also bring along yoghurt pots and cooking apples to make alternative feeders. Please bring a hammer. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in between 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Meet: The Information Centre.
Cost: £3.00 per feeder, to include nuts.
Build a Bird Feeder at Ryton Pools Country Park
Make a simple bird feeder to take home for the birds in your garden.

Night-time Wildlife Walk at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park
