Spooky stories and magical masks in North Warwickshire

Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage Education will be calling in at two venues in North Warwickshire this half term to bring some spook-tacular local tales, just in time for Halloween!

On Friday 30th October, children and their families should head to Coleshill Library from 10.00am – 12.00 noon or Pooley Park Visitor Centre in Polesworth from 2 – 4pm to join in the storytelling sessions and have a go at making a Green Man mask.

These events will be a great chance for families to hear traditional Warwickshire folktales, bringing to life ghostly goings-on at the castle and legendary beasts like the ‘Dun Cow’ and a giant black dog said to roam the country lanes…

Rebecca Williams, of Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage Education Service, said: “After a really busy summer, where we delivered nearly 80 events for families, it’s great to return to various venues around the county.

"This time, we’ll be bringing stories out of the archives, with the help of the Warwickshire County Record Office, and inspiring children and their families to get creative together and maybe even make up some stories of their own.”

The sessions cost £2.50 per child and all ages are welcome, but children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
