Diamond Award for local primary school
A Camp HIll school is this week being awarded with a special certificate in recognition of the road safety work they have done over the past 6 years.
Diamond is the highest certificate to be awarded and Camp Hill is among the first five schools in the whole county to have achieved this award.
KerbSafe is a practical road safety initiative developed by Warwickshire County Council to help make young children safer when they are out near roads.
It comprises six roadside sessions with volunteer instructors and introduces children to the basic skills they need to become more aware of the potential risks they face. Once a young child is aware of the dangers on the road, KerbSafe helps them to think about what they can do to keep themselves safe and encourages them to share this knowledge with their parents.
Stan Milewski, Principal Road Safety Officer at the county council, said: “We couldn’t run important schemes like KerbSafe in schools such as Camp Hill without the support of both teachers and volunteers alike.
“The volunteers in particular play a vital part in educating our young children about road safety and give their time freely – so well done to the school on achieving this silver award.”
