Learn about archaeology from the air in Shipston
Did you know that buried archaeological features can often be seen from the air?
Warwickshire County Council Archaeologists from the Historic Environment Record are running a practical workshop in Shipston-on-Stour to help people explore the fascinating world of aerial photographs and how archaeologists interpret them.
Those attending the workshop will also learn about the different types of aerial photograph available and will be taught the skills to interpret them.
The workshop will be held on Saturday 21 November at the Town Council, Clark House, Shipston-on-Stour, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The workshops have been organised by Warwickshire County Council thanks to funding from The Learning Revolution Fund. As a result the workshops are available at a discounted rate of £5.00 per person, per workshop. Booking is essential.
Ben Wallace, Historic Environment Record Manager for Warwickshire County Council, said: “We are really pleased to offer this workshop which reflects our focus on celebrating and exploring local history. This short session is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the archaeology of the county and just needs a bit of a helping hand in where to start.”

The month-long Learning Revolution campaign aims to celebrate everything that’s great about learning for pleasure and the benefits it brings to individuals, families, businesses and communities.
Learning Revolution is being led nationally by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to give adults across England the opportunity to celebrate what they enjoy and others the chance to try something new. The Learning Revolution white paper was published by BIS in March 2009 to open up opportunities and highlight the real benefits of informal adult learning.
