Find out more about youth elections - Stratford
Young wannabe politicians in Stratford have a chance to find out how they can get involved in decision making both locally and nationally.
Every year, Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service run elections for young people across the county who are interested in becoming a Member of Youth Parliament and VOX, the Warwickshire Youth Council.
There are eight places available to represent Warwickshire on the UK Youth Parliament and three places per district for VOX.
Two information evenings are being held at Cox’s Yard, Bridgefoot, this month for anyone in the Stratford area interested in running for elections early next year.
The first session will be on Thursday 12 November between 6pm and 8pm, with the second held on Tuesday 24 November from 6pm until 8pm. Further sessions are being held countywide in the coming weeks.
Gail Newood, Lead Participation Youth Worker (Stratford) for Warwickshire County Council, said: “The youth elections provide a great opportunity for young people to get involved in decision making and get their voices heard.
“The information evenings will go in to more detail about the roles of Youth Parliament and VOX with existing representatives and youth workers on hand to answer any questions.
“So we would encourage as many young people as possible to drop in to Cox’s Yard, Bridgefoot, to find out more.”
