Help is on hand to beat drugs in South Warwickshire

Warwickshire’s Drug and Alcohol Action Team is backing a Warwickshire Police initiative to cut organised crime.

Following an Operation Laser police raid today which resulted in 21 drug related arrests in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth, the DAAT would like to remind people with drug problems to seek help.

The Warwickshire service has been in discussions with NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust to ensure immediate support is available to anyone who may need it.

DAAT Manager Kit Leck said: “We fully support this new policing initiative, not only does it disrupt the drug supply chain but we know that intervention by the criminal justice system is a great catalyst to getting people on the road to kicking drugs and entering recovery.

“The consequences of being arrested, heavily fined or sent to prison are often enough to get many people to think seriously about taking steps to change their lifestyles and say no to drugs.

“News of the recent police operation has raised awareness of local drug issues and we want to take this opportunity to encourage anyone considering drug treatment services to get in touch with local support services.”

Warwickshire’s treatment services are also able to offer advice and guidance to friends and family members of drug users so if you want to seek support on behalf of someone else we want to hear from you.
