‘Young dragons’ invited to pitch in the ‘den’
Young people in Stratford are being invited to apply for a share of around 50 thousand pounds as part of the Youth Opportunity Fund.
Individuals and groups can bid for grants for youth projects, schemes or facilities that they would like to develop with a panel of other young people deciding whether applications are appropriate and should receive money.
The fund is a government initiative operated through Warwickshire County Council’s Children, Young People and Families directorate to increase the opportunities available for young people and encourage their involvement and participation in local communities.
A dragon’s den-style event has been organised inviting 13 to 19-year-olds to pitch their ideas at Cox’s Yard Bridgefoot in Stratford on Tuesday 17 November from 6pm until 8pm.
Young people who are interested in attending will need to notify organisers in advance and fill in a short Youth Opportunities Fund form available by email.
Gail Newood, Lead Participation Youth Worker (Stratford) for Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service, said: “The Youth Opportunities Fund provides a chance for young people to really get involved in improving their communities.
“It works particularly well because young people are involved in the whole process – from coming up with the ideas to deciding on the projects that would benefit others most from a share of the money.”
