Find out more about youth elections - Rugby

Young wannabe politicians in Rugby have a chance to find out how they can get involved in decision making both locally and nationally.

Every year, Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service run elections for young people across the county who are interested in becoming a Member of Youth Parliament and VOX, the Warwickshire Youth Council.

There are eight places available to represent Warwickshire on the UK Youth Parliament and three places per borough/district for VOX.

An information evening is being held at Dunchurch Youth Centre, Dunchurch Village Hall, on Wednesday 18 November between 7pm and 9pm for anyone in the Rugby area interested in running for elections early next year.

Further sessions are being held across the county in the coming weeks.

Anna Andrews, Lead Participation Youth Worker (Rugby) for Warwickshire County Council, said: “The youth elections provide a great opportunity for young people to get involved in decision making and get their voices heard.

“The information evening will go in to more detail about the roles of Youth Parliament and VOX with existing representatives and youth workers on hand to answer any questions.

“So we would encourage as many young people as possible to drop in to Dunchurch Youth Centre to find out more.”
