Choral spectacular at the arts centre
Around 300 young people from across the county will come together this weekend to perform in a Choral Spectacular at the newly refurbished Butterworth Hall in the Warwick Arts Centre.
The event has been organised by the County Music Service to showcase the talent of all CMS choral groups.
The prestigious art centre will host both the County Boys’ and County Junior Girls’ Choirs who each boast numbers of 100 members each. The County Girls and County Youth Chorale will also be performing a variety of repertoire.
This is an important concert for all the groups as they will be performing in a concert hall in front of choral groups and school authorities from all over the County as well as those involved in the National Choral Network.
The County Boys’ will sing four pieces including Panis Angelicus, Abide with Me, Bright Star and will join the other groups in a rendition of Gloria, a work arranged by Andrew R. Atkins, Director of CMS. All performers will take part in this piece including visiting students from secondary schools in the county and will be accompanied by full jazz orchestra.
Musical Director Garry Jones said that he couldn’t stress enough how important this concert was in showing to the audience how far the boys have progressed in just the two years they have been together and since their renown appearance at The Birmingham Symphony Hall last year.
The boys have been rehearsing in their area groups each week and are to have a special singing day the Saturday before to concentrate all their efforts into getting their voices note perfect on the day.
The concert is on the 22 November and starts at 7pm and finishes at 9pm and tickets are £6 for adults and £3 concessions.
This is the last in a series of spectacular concerts given by the CMS. To find out about more County Music Service events please call or visit http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/musicforlife
