Improvement works set to start at a Warwick junction
Work to relieve congestion at a busy junction in Warwick is due to commence shortly.
The £800,000 improvement to the junction of Banbury Road and Heathcote Lane, which link Warwick Gates and the Technology Park to Warwick, will begin at the end of November.
The work will involve re-aligning Heathcote Lane to install a new traffic signal junction and is necessary to accommodate the increased traffic volumes from recent nearby developments.
The successful contractor is Alun Griffiths Contractors from Abergavenny and the work is expected to take approximately 5 months to complete. However Warwickshire County Council and Alun Griffiths Contractors will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum, especially at peak times and in the lead up to Christmas.
Councillor Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “I am very pleased that this important and long awaited scheme to relieve local congestion is about to start”.
Councillor Angela Warner (Warwick South) agreed and added: “This scheme addresses a difficult junction, which has frustrated many in Warwick. We hope for a great improvement”.
