Exhibition for Kenilworth’s budding artists

Pupils from Prior’s Field Primary School in Kenilworth saw their work displayed at a special exhibition in Warwick on Wednesday (25 November).

Warwickshire County Council’s ICT Development Service hosted the showcase at its Wedgnock House offices in Warwick where guests including school staff, and parents could enjoyed the children’s artwork presented in gallery style.

The 15 pieces of art were produced by pupils aged 5-11 who worked individually or in small groups to create their masterpieces. They employed a range of techniques in their work such as collage, printing and acrylic and water-based painting so each piece was different.

The ICT Development Service offers the display space at Wedgnock House to local schools at no cost and enlarges and reprints exhibition pieces onto foam board so they are more suitable for show. Prior’s Field is the first primary school in the county to be invited to show their work in this way so the event was an extra special occasion.

The exhibition, which will remain at Wedgnock for a further two weeks was organised by Pat Hough, Art Coordinator at Prior’s Field and Service Development Officer Adele Clarkson from the county council.

Mrs Hough said: “We are really grateful to the ICT Development Service for displaying our pupils work and hosting this event for the young artists and their parents. The pupils are so proud to see their work displayed in this professional way and we will make sure each child can take a copy home when the exhibition ends.

“We take art seriously at Prior’s Field and each summer we hold an exhibition featuring art from the whole school. Our pupils work has also been displayed at local secondary schools and the county council offices but the opportunity to see the work displayed in this gallery style is definitely a highlight for me.”
