Head of Youth Justice Service leaves a legacy
The Head of Warwickshire’s Youth Justice Service (YJS) has announced she will be leaving the authority at the end of the year.
Diane Johnson joined the YJS in 1998 when she embarked on an exciting new challenge to set up a multi-agency youth justice partnership – known as Warwickshire Youth Offending Team until September 2009 – where she has been in post for the last 11 years.
It follows a successful career, beginning in 1980, in Children’s Services at a number of local authorities including Oxfordshire and a previous role in Warwickshire.
Diane said: “It has been a privilege to lead such a dedicated team of individuals who have worked tirelessly to help create an effective service for the people of Warwickshire.
“We have achieved so much over the last decade, notably our partnership working with the creation of two criminal justice centres, developing a programme of work with parents and the victims of crime, and proving that our unique partnership approach really does work in preventing offending.
“I am proud that so many people now recognise our work and I hope this continues long in to the future.“
Diane will be enjoying a well-earned rest before deciding on her next adventure.
Hugh Disley, Head of the Integrated Youth Support Services, said: “Diane has been an inspirational leader building a strong team committed to getting the best outcomes for every young person who came into the youth justice service.
“It has been a privilege to have worked with her and I wish her well for the next phase of her life. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Diane for her tremendous effort over the years in helping shape the Youth Justice Service in to what it is today.”
Lesley Tregear will be taking over day-to-day responsibilities of the Youth Justice Service from Tuesday 1 December. Lesley has a number of years experience with the Warwickshire service as Operations Manager.
Hugh Disley adds: “On behalf of myself and Diane, we wish Lesley all the best in her new role and I am sure she will do a fantastic job.”
